Paging through magazine after magazine, you search for ideas on how to decorate your home, but end up feeling frustrated and inadequate. Everyone else seems to have that flair for decorating that you simply weren’t born with. What do you do?

Unless you can afford the services of a professional interior designer, you basically have to figure this one out on your own. But it’s not as impossible as it seems. You already know what you like. Country defines you. Now you have to figure out how to define it.

Roosters are among today’s hot new decorating trends, so why not start there? If you pick a theme and revolve a room or two around it, the style will start to take its own shape and soon people will be commenting on your flair for decorating. Haven’t you waited long enough to hear those words?

Let’s start in the kitchen. The colors of your basic rooster lend themselves to a warm color scheme. Brick reds, creamy browns, and soft whites all work with this theme. Your choices of accessories are endless. A canister set graced with the image of roosters will sit nicely on your countertop, while a rooster-endowed comfort mat lies on the floor by the sink, where the rooster scrubber, washcloth and hand towel complete the set.

You didn’t know it would be this easy, did you?

Across the room is the dining table, set with rooster placemats, rooster dishes and a set of rooster and hen salt and pepper shakers. Don’t forget to look up, where you’ll find the rooster chandelier! If you really feel like splurging, Neiman Marcus has a beaded Estee Lauder Intuition Radiant Rooster packed full of solid perfume. Tiffany’s offers a beautiful stained glass rooster light.

But you don’t have to run up your charge cards to establish your country look with roosters. Venture into any dollar store and you’ll find quite an assortment. Do you want to play it safe and just start with a small room? Roosters can be used to scrub toilets, dispense soap, hold toothbrushes and offer hand towels to guests. The possibilities are endless!

Decorative roosters are covered in feathers, stuffed with feathers, have feathers painted on them or feathers carved into them. They are made of ceramic, wood, plastic, resin, copper, tin, crystal and fabric. They can add a festive country look to the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room, screened in porch, RV, patio, garden, office or wherever you want them.

Majestic looking and stately, roosters can represent any number of images that you wish to portray. Accessorizing with them is simple. Coordinate your color scheme around them, perch them various places and get ready to crow with pride at your newly discovered decorating prowess! Cockadoodledoo!
